Instead, Pittsburgh etched its place in history. There's a changing of the guard in the NHL, and here's why the Penguins could be dominant for years:
Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin: Malkin won the Conn Smythe Trophy with 36 points in 24 games. Crosby is the captain and unquestioned leader. Both are signed long-term, and the two superstars have become perfect complements to each other.
They're young: Malkin is 22. Crosby is 21. Staal is 20. Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury is 24. This could be the start of something special. "That's a great thought," coach Dan Bylsma said with a big smile.
They have the right coach: In mid-February, Bylsma took over a team that was in danger of missing the playoffs and led it to a Stanley Cup. Not a bad four-month run. "From Day 1," defenseman Rob Scuderi said, "he had a plan."

Nem rossz a jövőkép, főleg, hogy végre edzőnk is van, ezt a döntő hatodik és hetedik meccse végképp eldöntötte. |
